The Client’s Operations Center is seeking a contract Power BI Analyst to audit, repair, and modernize a set of existing Power BI dashboards used for operational excellence reporting. These boards support leadership-level visibility into major incident (P1/P2) response performance, SLA tracking, and operational health across store networking and infrastructure. Several boards have accumulated broken data connections, outdated DAX logic, or visuals that no longer reflect current source data structures. This role is scoped to stabilize, correct, and improve those dashboards over a focused six-month engagement.
Audit existing Power BI dashboards tied to incident management (ServiceNow incident data, PagerDuty alerting, SLA/KPI scorecards) to identify broken queries, stale data sources, and reporting logic errors
Rebuild or repair data models, DAX measures, and relationships to restore accuracy and reliability
Reconnect or re-architect data source connections where underlying systems (ServiceNow, PagerDuty, etc.) have changed
Validate metric definitions against source-of-truth incident data (e.g., detect/mitigate time SLAs, P1/P2 volume, RCA task completion) in partnership with the NOC team
Improve dashboard usability and visual clarity for a leadership/executive audience
Document data lineage, model logic, and known limitations so boards remain maintainable after the engagement ends
Partner with OC engineers and analysts to understand incident management workflows and ensure dashboards reflect real operational processes, not just raw data
6+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience: data modeling, DAX, Power Query (M), and dashboard/report design
Experience troubleshooting and repairing existing BI solutions, not just building new ones from scratch
Proficiency in Python and SQL
Experience with ETL processes
Experience with relational databases (BigQuery, Redshift, Oracle, Teradata, or others)
Prior exposure to IT service management or incident management data (ServiceNow, PagerDuty, Jira Service Management, or similar) — candidates who understand concepts like P1/P2 severity, SLA breach tracking, and RCA workflows will ramp faster
Comfort working with messy, legacy, or undocumented data models and reverse-engineering intent from existing reports
Ability to work independently with light oversight, while communicating progress and blockers clearly
Strong attention to detail — these boards inform executive-level SLA and performance conversations, so accuracy matters
Experience building dashboards specifically for IT operations
Familiarity with ServiceNow's incident/problem data model
Experience with row-level security, workspace governance, or dataset optimization in Power BI Service
Knowledge of statistical analysis and hypothesis testing
