An Engineer is part of a team of professionals that applies scientific and mathematical principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, systems, and solutions. High-level responsibilities:
Own backend engineering work within the one-web-bff federation effort, helping move functionality into a federated architecture.
Migrate domain-specific BFF modules one by one into the new federated system, including areas such as search, lookupUrl, carrier health, posting upload, directory, invitations, factoring, blocked/preferred logic, and workgroup users.
Implement and maintain backend integration logic in resolvers and providers so services work consistently within the shared BFF platform.
Improve reliability and observability by standardizing error handling, adding tracing, and decorating spans so issues can be identified faster across BFF code and downstream APIs.
Strengthen production supportability by making backend changes easier to monitor, troubleshoot, and operate in a federated system with many moving parts.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's or master's degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Strong experience in operational excellence (health monitoring, operational metrics)
Great design and problem-solving skills, with a strong bias for engineering excellence
Good knowledge of software engineering practices, SDLC, build process and operations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Always curious and passionate about learning newer and emerging technologies
Commitment to deliver results by untangling ambiguity with great problem-solving and analytical skills
Must-have:
2+ years of software engineering experience delivering production software.
Ability to work independently on well-defined problems with minimal guidance.
Strong fundamentals in coding, testing, code review, debugging, and maintainable system design.
Experience contributing to existing architectures using established patterns and best practices.
Ability to identify root causes of recurring issues and implement practical solutions.
Experience improving code quality, reducing technical debt, and contributing to reliable team delivery.
Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
Growth mindset with openness to feedback, learning, and mentoring others at a basic level.
Excellent skills with NodeJS;
Experience with GraphQL Federation.
