We're partnering with a global construction technology company building a leading platform used by owners, contractors, and engineers to plan, design, and build construction projects worldwide. Our Product & Technology organization spans engineering, product, design, data, and security — all working to modernize one of the world's largest, most under-digitized industries.
This role sits within BIM (Building Information Modeling) Engineering team, which owns the pipeline that brings 3D construction models from tools like Revit, Navisworks, and IFC-based authoring software into our platform, and powers the fast, in-browser 3D viewing and coordination experience our customers rely on daily.
We're looking for a senior engineer to join our BIM Engineering team, focused on the geometry and data-processing layer that converts industry-standard CAD/BIM file formats into our internal 3D scene representation. This is deep, specialized work: you'll be responsible for parsing, translating, and optimizing complex 3D construction data so it renders quickly and accurately for our customers, at scale.
You'll act in a senior technical capacity leading complex projects, setting technical direction, and mentoring other engineers, while partnering closely with Product, Design, and adjacent engineering teams (platform infrastructure and 3D viewer/rendering) to ship features built on cutting-edge BIM 3D technology.
Build and maintain parsers and data-processing pipelines that convert industry file formats (e.g. IFC, RVT, DGN) into our internal geometry and scene format
Work on geometry processing problems spanning parametric CAD data, point clouds/scans, and GIS data
Establish engineering standards and best practices across development teams; collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams on shared architecture
Help design and build systems aligned with a service-oriented architecture, supporting both enterprise and international customer needs
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and UX to design solutions that solve real customer problems
Mentor other engineers reviewing designs and code, and helping the team consistently ship high-quality software
Diagnose and resolve data-fidelity issues (e.g. geometry or metadata discrepancies) reported by customers, tracing them through the parsing/processing pipeline
Contribute to safe, incremental rollout of changes to production data-processing systems, with attention to backward compatibility and rollback safety
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Professional software development experience with 5+ YOE and with strong proficiency in C++
Experience with geometric modeling parametric curves and surfaces (splines/NURBS)
Experience handling engineering/CAD data, and ideally exposure to laser scan/photogrammetry or GIS data
Familiarity with common **3D/CAD file formats**: IFC, RVT, DGN, glTF, or similar
Experience with relevant libraries/SDKs, such as: Open Cascade, Assimp, Open Design Alliance (ODA), MeshLab, or GDAL
Nice to have:
Experience with Rust
Background in 3D rendering and real-time rasterization techniques (PBR, IBL)
Familiarity with spatial acceleration structures (BVH, K-d tree, octree)
Experience with 3D graphics techniques: triangle meshes, BREP, point clouds, level-of-detail (LOD), mesh decimation/simplification, mesh cleanup and optimization
Exposure to hardware-accelerated ray tracing (e.g. Nvidia OptiX, DX12)
