Best Data Engineering Companies for Enterprises in 2026

Quick Summary

Key takeaways from the article
  • Enterprise data engineering partners can be grouped into 4 types, from engineering-led firms and global consultancies to data and AI specialists and platform specialists.
  • The 7 ranking lists we reviewed for this search named 60 different companies, and no company appeared in more than 3 of them.
  • Check every partner status on the platform’s own pages, because the Databricks directory shows no tiers and Microsoft ended its Gold and Silver benefits in 2025.
  • Price and time estimates come from the companies themselves, with phData pilots from as little as $20k-50k and Kanerika lakehouse projects taking 4 to 9 months.
  • Building in-house suits continuous platform work, and in Deloitte’s 2024 vendor survey on outsourcing, 70% of executives had moved part of their outsourced work back in-house over 5 years.

Choosing a data engineering company is one of the most important decisions an enterprise makes about its data. The partner you pick builds the pipelines that every report and forecast relies on. A weak one leaves you with outdated dashboards, stalled AI projects, and a platform migration that drags on for years.

To help you avoid these situations and choose the right partner, we built this list on facts you can check. Data engineering companies show Databricks or Snowflake badges on their sites, and in our check, several of those badges did not match what the platforms list today.

That is why we looked past the badges and confirmed every partner status on the platforms’ own pages, such as Snowflake’s partner directory and Databricks’ 2026 partner awards. For client results, we used only figures that companies publish on their own case pages. All facts are current as of October 27, 2026.

The result is a shortlist of 11 enterprise data engineering companies in 4 groups, from global consultancies to specialists in Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric. For each company, you will see its services, the projects it fits best, its confirmed partner status, and one published client result.

By the end of this article, you will know which data engineering companies are worth calling for your program and how to verify their claims before the first meeting.

Best Data Engineering Companies by Use Case

The best data engineering companies for your enterprise depend on the job you need done. A partner that builds a first platform quickly may struggle with a multi-year program across many business units, so it helps to match companies to your use case before you read the full profiles.

The table below gives one row per company. The “Use case” column names the type of project, “Strong-fit company” shows who to consider, and “Why it fits” gives the main evidence, which each company’s card covers in more detail.

Quick answer

Zoolatech is the strongest choice for enterprises that need to move data from overnight updates to streaming, connect many business systems, and build a lakehouse platform ready for AI. Accenture and Deloitte fit large programs that span many platforms and business units.

EPAM Systems suits big modernizations of existing data platforms, and Thoughtworks suits a fast first version of a new one. LatentView Analytics, Sigmoid, Tiger Analytics and Tredence are data and AI specialists with Databricks and Snowflake work in their published results. Tiger Analytics and Tredence also hold 2026 retail and consumer goods awards.

Kanerika fits companies built around Microsoft Fabric, and phData fits Snowflake platforms that start with a small pilot.

Our Methodology: How We Selected These Data Engineering Companies

We selected these data engineering companies by starting with a wide pool and keeping only those whose claims we could verify. Checking every claim is important because ranking pages for this search barely agree with each other.

When we reviewed 7 vendor-published lists that rank in Google’s top 10 for “data engineering companies” and close variants in October 2026, they named 60 different companies. Only Sigmoid and Tiger Analytics appeared in 3 of them, and no company appeared in more.

Our starting pool combined the companies named in those lists, in Google’s AI answer for the same search, and in the 2025–2026 partner awards from Databricks, Snowflake and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

From that pool, we kept only data engineering service providers that met 2 requirements:

  • A data engineering service page. The company’s own site has a page for data engineering or data platform work, under names such as data engineering, data and analytics, or data modernization.
  • A partner status you can check. The company holds at least one tier or award that we confirmed on the platform’s own pages, such as Snowflake’s partner directory, the AWS Partner Solutions Finder, or the yearly award announcements from Databricks, Snowflake, and AWS.

For every company on the list, we filled in the same fields:

  • Company type, founding year, headquarters, and size, as the company states them.
  • Data engineering services.
  • Streaming, lakehouse, and AI-ready data work, based on what its pages and client cases show.
  • Partner status and the place where we confirmed it.
  • One published client result and what that figure measures.
  • The projects it fits best.

When a field says “not stated”, we did not find that information on the company’s pages as of October 27, 2026. The company may still offer it, so it is worth asking directly.

We did not give the companies a combined score, because headcounts and partner programs differ too much to fold into one number.

We used 3 kinds of sources:

  • Each company’s own service and case pages.
  • Platform partner directories and award announcements.
  • The platforms’ own descriptions of their partner programs.

We did not use other ranking lists as a source of facts, paid directory placements, or review-site ratings. Partner tiers and awards change every year, so we review this page every quarter.

Case study 1: integration hub for Pandora

Challenge. Pandora’s finance, customer, warehouse, transportation and reporting systems exchanged data through separate point-to-point connections that ran in scheduled batches. As a result, data could take up to 36 hours to reach the systems that needed it.

What we did. We built an integration hub on Apache Kafka and replaced the point-to-point connections with reusable business events that any system can subscribe to.

Result. Data delays dropped from up to 36 hours to milliseconds, and Pandora now has a shared data foundation for omnichannel operations, analytics, and AI. Read the full story of Pandora’s integration hub.

Case study 2: customer data pipeline for Zalando

Challenge. Zalando, a European online fashion retailer with 51 million active users in 25 markets, had no central, up-to-date source of customer data for marketing. Consent opt-in rates took hours of manual calculation, which delayed campaign decisions. The platform also had to handle 4 billion client IDs collected over 3 years.

What we did. We built a streaming data platform on Apache Spark that processes consent and behavior data as it arrives. We also created data products for marketing, analytics, and compliance teams, added anomaly-detection quality checks, and connected the results to Braze for audience targeting.

Result. The pipeline now processes about 2.5 billion records per day, and processing costs fell by more than 50%. Marketing teams launch campaigns on fresh data instead of delayed batch uploads. See the full Zalando customer data pipeline case.

Why enterprises choose Zoolatech for data engineering

Our main advantage is that we change data platforms without stopping the business that runs on them. We treat every pipeline, integration, and lakehouse as a system we own together with you.

Here is how we work with enterprise clients:

  • Extreme ownership. We take responsibility for outcomes, flag risks early, and bring solutions before problems grow.
  • Senior teams. More than 60% of our engineers are senior-level specialists.
  • Transparent delivery. Every engagement has a dedicated delivery manager, a live risk register, and a formal quality check before release.
  • Long partnerships. Our client partnerships average more than 4 years, with teams of 2 to 50+ engineers.
  • Flexible engagement models. You can work with us through team extension, managed delivery, or an outcome-based contract.

If you need a partner that builds your data platform and stays accountable for how it runs, Zoolatech is a strong place to start.

Case study: customer data mastering for a large US insurer

Challenge. One of the largest US insurers wanted a single, trusted version of each customer profile for all its applications. Its customer master data management (MDM) system ran on an old on-premises setup.

What they did. Deloitte moved customer MDM to Reltio, a cloud service hosted on AWS. The team also connected the insurer’s source and consuming applications through streaming integrations on Kafka.

Result. Mastering one customer profile now takes about 1.5 seconds instead of 3–5 minutes, and the insurer manages 10 million active customer records in one place. This figure measures how fast a single profile is matched and merged, which is a different metric from end-to-end pipeline speed. The case appears on Deloitte’s data engineering page.

Not the right fit if you want a single engineering team without a wider consulting program and Deloitte cannot offer one, so ask about it before you shortlist.

Case study: incentive program rebuild for a global cruise line

Challenge. A global cruise line with $9B+ in revenue and 3 consumer brands calculated employee commissions and bonuses on a decade-old Oracle and Microsoft Access system. The rules were undocumented, each brand kept its data in separate systems, and the daily batch run took 6–8 hours.

What they did. phData rebuilt the logic in dbt as modular, testable models and moved all 3 brands onto one Snowflake platform. The team added automated checks against the old system’s output and built a Streamlit app so business users could handle exceptions such as split commissions.

Result. Daily batch processing time fell by more than half, from 6–8 hours to 3–4 hours, with less than 1% difference from the old system’s results. The cruise line then retired its legacy system entirely. Read phData’s cruise line case.

Not the right fit if your company has standardized on a data platform other than Snowflake and phData cannot show work on it, so ask for a case before you shortlist.

When you read the table, keep these points in mind:

  • Company sizes aren’t comparable because each company counts them differently. Some report the whole company, Deloitte reports its global network, Sigmoid counts certified engineers, and Tredence counts data scientists.
  • “Client case” means a published client project on the company’s own site shows the capability. “Company says” means a service or partner page describes it.
  • “Not stated” means we did not find the information on the company’s pages as of October 27, 2026. The company may still offer it, so ask directly.

Comparison Matrix: Which Vendor Type Should You Choose?

The right vendor type depends on your program’s shape, because each data engineering company is built for a different kind of work. A global consultancy can run a program across dozens of business units, and the same firm can be too heavy for one urgent pipeline.

The 11 companies in this list fall into 4 types:

  • Engineering-led firms. Zoolatech, EPAM Systems and Thoughtworks build and modernize data platforms with their own engineering teams.
  • Global consultancies. Accenture and Deloitte combine data engineering with strategy and change management, and work across many platforms at once.
  • Data and AI specialists. LatentView Analytics, Sigmoid, Tiger Analytics and Tredence focus on analytics, data science and the platforms that feed them.
  • Platform specialists. Kanerika and phData center their work on one ecosystem, Microsoft Fabric for Kanerika and Snowflake for phData.

The matrix below matches common project needs to these types. Find the row closest to your program, check which vendor type fits it, and start your shortlist with the companies in the last column.

What Data Engineering Companies Cost and How Long Projects Take

What data engineering companies cost depends mostly on the scope of your program, so few of them publish prices. phData says a proof of concept or pilot can cost as little as $20k–50k. Kanerika estimates 2 to 4 months for a focused pipeline project or ETL migration and 4 to 9 months for a full lakehouse with automated data operations and governance.

These figures are the companies’ own estimates for their projects, and a pilot covers only part of what a full enterprise program includes. The table below shows what moves the price and what to ask a partner about each factor.

Cost DriverWhy It Raises the CostWhat to Ask the Partner
Number of source systemsEach source needs its own connection and testsWhich of our source systems have you connected before?
Data volumeMore processing power and storageLargest daily volume your pipelines handle today
Streaming instead of scheduled updatesAlways-on infrastructure and constant monitoringHow do you measure and track data delays?
Migration from legacy systemsOld logic to find, rebuild and checkHow will you compare results with the old system?
Governance and security rulesAccess controls, data lineage and auditsWhich security reports can you share with us?
Support after launchMonthly cost for running the platformWhat does handover to our team include?

Your data platform also bills you separately from the partner. Databricks and Snowflake charge for the computing power and storage you use. Ask each partner to estimate the platform’s monthly running cost along with its own fees.

When you compare proposals, make sure they cover the same points:

  • The scope of work and the number of source systems.
  • The team’s composition and seniority.
  • The handover plan and documentation.
  • The estimated monthly cost of running the platform.

Once you know what drives the price, the next step is to check whether a partner can deliver the scope it quotes.

How to Choose the Best Data Engineering Company

How to Check a Data Partner Before You Sign

If you want to go beyond this list or check each data engineering company yourself, we prepared a step-by-step guide for you. The 7 steps below help you ask every data engineering service provider on your shortlist the same questions and compare their answers side by side.

Step 1 – Define what your data program must deliver

You can compare proposals only when every partner answers the same brief. Write your brief before the first call, so you set the scope and partners respond to your needs.

Your brief should answer these questions:

  • Which source systems you need to connect, such as your finance, customer, online store, and warehouse systems.
  • How fresh your data must be for each team, from within seconds to once a day.
  • Whether you need a new lakehouse, a warehouse migration, or a mix of the two.
  • Which of your analytics and AI projects depend on this data.
  • Which data platform you use today and which one you plan to use.

Once your brief is ready, match it to a vendor type in the Comparison Matrix above before you contact anyone.

Step 2 – Check the partner’s Databricks, Snowflake, AWS or Microsoft status

You will see partner badges on company websites, and in our check, several of them did not match what the platforms list today. Check every status on the platform’s own pages. If you find a tier only on the company’s site, ask the partner about it, because an outdated label alone does not make a partner weak.

Use the table to see where you can confirm each status, which tiers each program uses today, and which labels you should question.

PlatformWhere to CheckCurrent Tiers or DesignationsLabels to Question
DatabricksPartner’s written confirmation, yearly partner awardsBronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum“Elite” or “Select” as a Databricks tier
SnowflakeTier tag on the partner’s directory listingRegistered, Select, Premier, EliteSite tier that differs from the directory
AWSProfile in AWS Partner Solutions FinderSelect, Advanced, PremierProfile text the partner writes itself
MicrosoftMicrosoft partner directorySolutions Partner designation per area, including Data & AI“Gold” or “Silver” partner
Google CloudGoogle Cloud partner directorySelect, Premier, DiamondOlder program names

The Databricks partner program runs from Bronze for new partners to Platinum, its highest tier, which is invite-only. You will not see tiers in the Databricks public directory, so ask your partner to confirm its tier in writing.

On AWS, partners write their own profile descriptions and AWS does not verify them, so rely on the tier label more than the text. Microsoft ended its legacy Silver and Gold partner benefits on January 22, 2025, and now gives partners a Solutions Partner designation for each area. In the Google Cloud Partner Network, Diamond is the highest level.

Step 3 – Ask for a published result close to your case

A single number on a sales slide tells you little until you know what it measured. Ask each partner for one published client result that looks like your program.

A useful case result shows you:

  • The client, by name or with a specific description.
  • The starting value and the value after the project.
  • What the figure measures, such as data delay, query time, or monthly cost.
  • How long the project took.
  • Which work the partner’s team did and which work the client’s team did.

Be careful when you see a percentage with no starting value. The same goes for a partner that shows you a first version of a platform as if it were a production system.

Step 4 – Ask how they connect sources and measure data delays

Companies describe fast data in different ways, and some call an hourly update “streaming”. Ask your partner to show you end-to-end delay figures from a live project, the event volumes it handled, and how its pipelines deal with late or duplicate events.

Then ask how the partner plans to connect your sources, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), software-as-a-service (SaaS) tools and databases.

You want to hear one shared integration approach, such as business events or change data capture, which copies each change from a source database as it happens. If the partner plans a separate point-to-point link for every source, treat it as a warning sign, because each new system you add will need more links to maintain.

Step 5 – Check how they keep your data accurate and secure

Errors in a fast pipeline reach your reports faster, so you need data-quality owners from day one. Ask which automated checks catch errors, who receives the alerts, and who fixes each issue.

Our guides to data observability and data governance for AI show you what good answers about checks, data catalogs, and access permissions include.

For security, ask your partner for a current System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 report or an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27001 certificate, and check what its scope covers.

If you work with regulated data, such as health records under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) or personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ask how the partner protects your data in test environments.

Step 6 – Meet the team that will do the work

The people who present a proposal to you are often different from the people who build your platform. Ask for the names and roles of the engineers on your project, and confirm they will stay with you from the first meeting to delivery.

Ask where the team works and how many working hours overlap with yours. When your questions wait a day for an answer, every release slows down.

Step 7 – Agree how your team takes over

If only the vendor can run your platform, you stay dependent on that vendor. Before you sign, agree that your code and pipelines live in your own repositories and cloud accounts.

Your contract should also include:

  • Documentation and runbooks, the step-by-step guides your team uses to run the platform.
  • Pairing between the partner’s engineers and yours during delivery.
  • An exit plan that shows how the work moves to your team.

Red Flags When Hiring a Data Engineering Company

Claims That Need a Second Look

The most common red flags when hiring a data engineering company are claims that the platforms or published case studies don’t back them up. In our October 27, 2026 check, we found such claims on the websites of well-known companies, so even a large partner deserves a second look.

Here are the red flags to watch for, with examples we found:

  • A partner tier that differs from the platform’s listing. EPAM’s Snowflake page calls it a Premier partner, and Snowflake’s directory lists EPAM at the Select tier. Sigmoid’s page says Select, and the directory lists Sigmoid at Premier. Ask for the directory link before you rely on any tier.
  • A tier name the program does not use. Deloitte’s, EPAM’s and LatentView’s pages describe them as “Elite” Databricks partners, and Databricks’ tiers run from Bronze to Platinum. LatentView also calls itself a “Microsoft Silver” partner, a label Microsoft retired in January 2025.
  • An award count that is out of date. Accenture’s AI and data page still shows “Databricks partner of the year, 6th year in a row”, and Databricks’ 2026 announcement names Accenture for the 8th year. An outdated count can understate a partner, so check the platform’s latest announcement.
  • A result with no client and no starting value. For example, Accenture’s Databricks page promises up to 75% less ETL processing time without naming a client. Treat such numbers as marketing until the partner shows you the project behind them.
  • Data checks put off until later. If the first release lacks automated checks and alerts, errors reach your reports from day one.
  • Wrong statistic in the pitch. Gartner predicted that through 2026, organizations will abandon 60% of AI projects that lack AI-ready data. If a partner tells you that “60% of AI projects fail because of bad data”, it has distorted the source, and you should check its other numbers as well.

A mismatch is a reason to ask questions, and every claim on your shortlist deserves a check at the source.

What a Data Engineering Company Does and How It Differs From a Platform Vendor

A data engineering company designs, builds, and runs systems that move data from your business applications into an analytics and AI platform. Without this work, each team pulls its own exports, and your reports give different answers to the same question.

Most data engineering firms cover these areas of work:

  • Source integration. The partner connects your business systems, so data leaves them as soon as it changes.
  • Data pipelines. Pipelines move and transform your data on a schedule or as a constant stream.
  • Lakehouse or warehouse architecture. The partner designs where your data lives and moves it off older platforms.
  • Data quality and observability. Automated checks and alerts catch errors before they reach your reports.
  • Governance and access. Data catalogs, lineage, and permissions show you where each piece of data came from and who can use it.
  • AI-ready data. The partner prepares your data so AI models and agents can rely on it.

You can see how we cover this scope on our data engineering services page. For more detail on the pipeline layer, read our guide to AI data pipelines.

Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric are platforms you license. Data engineering services companies, such as the 11 in this list, design and build your system on top of those platforms, and you pay the platform and the partner separately.

Search results for data engineering consulting firms also include lists of companies that employ data engineers. Those lists help job seekers, and this one covers data engineering consulting companies you can hire for a project.

When to Hire a Data Engineering Company and When to Build In-House

Hiring a data engineering company makes sense when you have a defined end goal, and your team lacks the skills or time to deliver it. For example, you may need to move from scheduled data loads to streaming, combine a warehouse and a data lake on one lakehouse, or prepare your data for AI.

This work has become urgent for many enterprises. In a Gartner survey of 1,203 data management leaders, 63% of organizations said they did not have the right data management practices for AI or were not sure they had them. Our guide to AI-ready data architecture explains what those practices include.

A partner is the better choice when:

  • The work has a defined end, such as a migration or a new platform.
  • You need streaming, lakehouse, or migration skills now.
  • Hiring your own team would take longer than your program allows.

Building in-house fits better when:

  • Your data platform needs continuous development and is central to your business.
  • You have time to hire and train engineers.
  • You need the knowledge to stay in-house.

Most enterprises combine the two. The partner builds the platform together with your engineers, and you agree on documentation and a handover plan from the start.

Planning the handover early matters because companies often bring outsourced work back in-house. In Deloitte’s 2024 Global Outsourcing Survey of more than 500 executives, 70% said they had moved part of their outsourced work back in-house over the previous 5 years. Deloitte sells sourcing advice, and the survey covers outsourcing in general, so treat the figure as a signal for your planning.

Also Considered

A few well-known firms came close to this list but did not meet both of our requirements as of October 27, 2026.

  • Intellias. The company says its headquarters is in Malta. We could not confirm a partner tier or award on the platform’s own pages.
  • Fractal. Fractal was founded in 2000 and has 6,000+ employees across 10 countries. Its site has no dedicated data engineering service page, and its data work appears as part of a wider AI offering.

Final Word

Choosing among data engineering companies takes time. You compare partner statuses, read case pages, ask for evidence, and talk to several teams before the right partner becomes obvious.

That effort pays off. Your data platform will serve every report and AI project for years, and a careful choice now saves you months of rework later.

Use the top data engineering companies in this list as a starting point. Shortlist the ones that match your program, run them through the 7 steps above, and choose the partner that answers your questions with evidence.
