Nordstrom.com is one of the largest retail e-commerce companies in North America.
The Store Foundation team is working with the set of services that are used daily by internal users (salespeople at stores, fulfillment centers, etc.). Currently, we have a mix of on-premise services which aren't really new. Though, in scope of the cloud transformation, we aim to increase scalability, improve performance, cost, and security. In order to do this, we are rebuilding the ecosystem: some legacy services will be replaced by the new ones which will be built with a modern approach (k8s, AWS, Kafka). The nearest focus of our team is Store Streaming project with the main idea of moving from Oracle solution with batch jobs to Cloud. The second project that the team is about to start is Enterprise Journal which collects all kinds of events from stores (what is sold where etc.). It would also be rebuilt with a modern stack. At this moment both projects are on the kick-off stage so you will be able to contribute from the earliest stages of the project.
Overall, if you like to communicate with customers and explore how things work at complex infrastructure, this might be the right project for you
