Nordstrom.com is one of the largest retail e-commerce companies in North America.
The Store Foundation team is working with the set of services that are used daily by internal users (salespeople at stores, fulfilment centers, etc.). Currently, we have a mix of on-premise services which aren't really new. Though, in scope of the cloud transformation, we aim to increase scalability, improve performance, cost, and security. In order to do this, we are rebuilding the ecosystem: some legacy services will be replaced by the new ones which will be built with a modern approach (k8s, AWS, Kafka). The nearest focus of the team is Store Eventing project. Main goal of the project is to modernise the way selling related events (item sold, item returned, etc) are transferred to Nordstrom backend systems. Modernisation will include deprecation of old services and creation of new ones.
