Guidewheel is building a real-time FactoryOps platform that connects to any factory machine using power-based sensors to deliver instant visibility into performance, productivity, and energy use. The system processes terabytes of time-series data weekly and empowers manufacturers to increase productivity and reduce emissions.

As part of a small, international engineering team, you'll work on a cloud-native platform that integrates machine data with business logic, enabling automated insights and high-impact decision-making across manufacturing operations. You’ll help scale a mission-driven product used by companies like General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, and Coca-Cola FEMSA.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.

  • Develop APIs and infrastructure to support a real-time dashboard for factory operations.

  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and security across cloud-based deployments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and customer needs into backend solutions.

  • Own and drive projects end-to-end — from architecture and implementation to testing and deployment.

  • Implement and advocate for robust testing strategies, including unit and integration tests.

  • Maintain technical documentation and participate in regular code reviews.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of system architecture, coding standards, and engineering processes.

Must Have

  • 7+ years of backend development experience with a strong focus on scalable system design.

  • Expertise in Node.js and TypeScript for production-grade services.

  • Solid experience with API design, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis).

  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially GCP or similar (AWS, Azure).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps best practices.

  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

  • Comfortable working in remote Agile teams across multiple time zones.

  • Proactive, self-directed mindset and strong communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Bigtable, RabbitMQ, and/or Heroku.

  • Familiarity with message-driven architectures and event streaming.

  • Background in real-time data processing or handling large-scale time-series data.

  • Exposure to machine data, industrial IoT, or manufacturing systems.

  • Previous involvement in early-stage startups or mission-driven tech companies.

  • Experience mentoring other developers or leading technical initiatives.
